To all Club Members

It is with great pleasure that I am able to inform you that our club North Lanarkshire Scramble and Quad Bike Club was named on the 2nd of June as worthy recipients of the 2007
“Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service”.

This is an extremely prestigious award with only a total of seven being awarded this year in Scotland. Our club was put forward by others who have identified and recognised the outstanding commitment that all of the club’s membership has given in providing a quality service with the support of you our volunteers.

While we all continually get on with providing our events, this provision is only possible due to the many adult and young member volunteers who have given of their time to attain various National Training Courses and qualify, thus allowing our events programme to take place. picture of queens award crystal. This level of commitment by you allows the club to be covered by Insurance and SACU permits, be it the need for having Training Volunteers, personnel qualified in First Aid and Defibrillator Training or Clerk of the Course, Technical and Environmental Officers or Coaching along with Web Site Marshal and Designer and Administration, to the many members who are providing other important skills - Marshalling and assisting, be it Child Protection Officer, Club Photographer, Statistician or many members with Trade Skills.

It It is because we all work collectively together to deliver a quality product. We have been greatly assisted in our development by other agencies, North Lanarkshire Council who having committed continual resources in assisting the club to provide opportunities for young people, along with the assistance of the Volunteer Centre North Lanarkshire who assisted use through the club’s development of our Policies and Procedures Document and also elected Members and many Staff of North Lanarkshire Council, Strathclyde Police and SACU.

The Club’s Directors and the Youth Council would like to thank everyone who has assisted in the development of our club, especially Councillor William Martin, John Turnbull, Landscape and Country Parks Manager, North Lanarkshire Council and Scottish Auto Cycle Union for they jointly proposed the club for this prestigious award.

“This award truly reflects the continued commitment by you to the club, through freely volunteering in providing proper facilities, which allow young people to develop their skills and be recognised as responsible and worthy young Scottish citizens”
 Congratulations,

“THIS IS YOUR AWARD - YOU DESERVE IT”

Thank you All

These clubs were the Airdrie Music Project and the Bargeddie Forward Group.

The Awards were presented by the Lord Lieutenant Gilbert Cox and Provost Tom Curley to Bob Reid and a small group of club volunteers at a reception at the Motherwell Civic Centre. Our thanks and gratitude go to both the Lord Lieutenant and Provost for their gracious hospitality, kind words and goodwill. In addition the event was attended by Bill Martin a founder member and inspirational supporter of the NLSQBC. It is our fervent hope that with this recognition and the assistance of the Provost and other influential members of the council and authorities we will achieve the goal of establishing a centre of excellence in Scotland at Forrestburn.

Andrew is an example of both what the club can do for young people in Scotland and also what they give back to the club and the community. Whilst Andrew has outgrown the facilities we currently have he still contributes to the promotion of the club, its aims and goals, the Youth Council and also attends public events on behalf of the club. Andrew is a credit to his parents, the club and the youth of today.
