Marshalls

Balbackie Track Risk Assessment

Statement

  • The club has to fulfil the Scottish Auto Cycle Union (SACU) Rules and Regulations
  • We are required to have an Annual Track Inspection
  • We are required to have SACU Event Permits
  • We are required to have SACU Trained personnel to administer our events

All the above points are required for the club to receive Insurance Cover for our events
While the sport/ hobby is classified as a dangerous sport, if the right systems are in place, then we reduce the risks.

To achieve the requirement, we seek your assistance in reducing danger at events by complying with the following advice

  1. Marshals are required to wear a Luminous Jacket, Radio (big track,) Fire Extinguisher,
  2. Marshals may access Ear Plugs, Dust Mask, Safety Glasses, (available from the First Aid Unit)
  3. Marshals to have a Yellow and First Aid Flag
  4. Marshals may need to leave their Marshalling point (maybe a bike is broken down etc) If a Marshal leaves his post, then the event requires to STOP Procedure is through contacting the Clerk of the Course through the Starter who will arrange for relief.
  5. No Marshals Children are allowed to accompany them to the track marshalling locations
  6. Marshals Responsibility. If a RIDER is riding dangerously, or if their personal equipment or machine needs urgent attention, then they should PASS that concern to the Clerk by Radio

It is a requirement of club membership that each rider requires to have someone to cover Marshalling Duties at all events, the period normally last 2 hours

General Information

If a serious accident were to happen at a club event, we are required to notify the Insurance Company with full details of the incident. We are required to gather evidence, such as photos, along with witness statements of the occurrence. You will understand that it is very important that we all comply with the rules and regulations associated with the sport/hobby

I know that some other venues are not so strict. That is their choice, "NLSQBC with your help, will deliver the highest standard of compliance

Thank you for your commitment
