NLSQBC Member Success Stories

Congratulations to Daniel Chisolm for his successes so far in the racing scene - another example of the talented riders coming from the NLSQBC stable. Whilst we are a recreational club it is rewarding to see the skill and quality of young riders in the club and also moving into the racing side of the sport.

Well Done Daniel!

Don't forget Sunday 22nd AGM and Presentation of Member Awards for those who were not at the Dinner Dance. Please can as many of you as possible come to the AGM as this is a key event for the club and communication with the membership. In the Press...

Quantya Track - electric performance motorbikeAs you will all be aware noise is the single biggest issue affecting off road sports - especially bikes. The future of racing at Croft circuit near Darlington is in doubt after three local residents were awarded around £150000 in compensation for noise issues. Noise is what has prevented us submitting a full planning application for Forrestburn - despite positive outcomes from noise testing. There is, however a sea change being driven by both the need for reduced pollution in the environment and the requirement for more efficient transport technologies - namely (dare I say it) Electric bikes! I know there are many who still believe these are feeble kids bikes - but with the Isle of Mann staging a TT for low emission machines we are in for some great machines. 100% torque at minimum revs...150mph bikes...low running cost and zero emissions. KTM have indcated that they will have production crossers in 2010. The only problem is cost - for now.

After discussion with Bob I have been in contact with Zero bikes and also KTM to see if we can obtain a test and demo bike for the club. At present we have not managed to get one but we will continue to do work on this. As for the industry - well check out these...

NLSQBC Presentation and Disco Evening

I must thank all the people who assisted in providing such an enjoyable evening.
Thanks to our Guests Eric and Heather Jones SACU, Lenny McGingell and his lovely wife from Motherwell College and to John and Barbara for organising the Cambusnethan Social Club, which is an excellent venue.
We will consider using the larger hall next year as some members were disappointed because of the demand for tickets.
Thanks to the Cambusnethan Catering Staff for providing an excellent spread with plenty to eat and to Carolyn McDonald for collecting and running the Raffle, which made £130.00
Thanks to our member David Arnott for providing the Disco, which went down a storm with everyone involved and to Jim Henderson for his piping rendition of his very own “Leaving Balbackie”
I would like to thank all the membership on behalf of my Wife and myself for the lovely leather briefcase and the food hamper, which was presented to us on the evening.
Thank you and best Wishes
Bob Reid

Choices for Life 2008

NSQBC volunteers and first aid facilities supported the Choices for life event at Stratchclyde Park. A great day out for the club. Many thanks to the volunteers. See photos on the YC Website here...

Forrestburn Noise Test

July 08 Saw two noise testing events;- The first at Forrestburn with a number of club volunteers attending on quads and bikes to assist. Bob and Ali cut tracks into the site to facilitate the testing and everyone had a great time (if a bit dizzy) riding the test tracks. The second was at Balbackie at one of our July events. It is our hope that working with council consultants we are able to build on our case for planning consent at Forrestburn. See Photos here...
